Carrot orange ginger juice is what first made me fall in love with fresh juice. I was 22 and living abroad Hong Kong. There were a preponderance of little stalls making fresh juices and somehow I fell into an exclusive pattern of ordering carrot orange ginger juice to beat the midday heat.
Fast forward a few years, and turns out this juice is just as apt for those who live in the coastal fog as it is for those on Hong Kong’s humid shores. The sweetness of the oranges and carrots (yes, they’re sweet!), is rounded out by a spicy kick courtesy of the ginger. It’s a feisty twist on a tried and true American staple, OJ, with an added health boost thanks to the carrots. Enjoy.. but don’t hold me liable for your impending addiction!
Ingredients:
(Serves 1)
- 1 Cara Cara or Navel orange, peeled
- 3 long carrots*, peeled
- 1 inch piece ginger, peeled
Directions:
- Prep first! Peel all your ingredients.
- Juice and enjoy 🙂 I use this juicer – it’s Breville’s bottom of the line offering, and it’s perfect for all your juicing and easy cleanup needs.
Notes:
*By “long carrots” I mean the type that Bugs Bunny eats, rather than baby carrots. You know, the big ones with the green carrot top!
What am I listening to as I make this?
What can I learn while I make this? Why carrots are so good for you! Remember as a child being told to eat carrots to help with your eyesight? Well, that wasn’t an urban myth. Carrots are high in beta-carotene, which the body converts to Vitamin A. Vitamin A, in turn, can help to prevent the formation of cataracts as well as macular degeneration – both of which are leading causes of impaired vision and blindness. Drink up!!
What if I want to make something healthy to drink but not this recipe? Don’t worry– I won’t be offended! Check out these other ideas below:
