Skeleton Cheese Board

Why have a normal cheese board in October when you can have a skeleton one?

Cheese boards are an entertaining staple, so why not make your cheese board more entertaining? Enter: the skeleton cheese board. A spooky and frightfully easy twist on the typical charcuterie.

Ingredients:

(Serves 4-6 as an appetizer)

  • 1/8 cup Kalamata olives, pitted
  • 4 oz of your preferred crackers*
  • ~0.2 oz each of 3 white cheeses cut in cubes (I did cheddar, Brie, and sartori)
  • 2 pita chips (or anything orange-ish for the nose)
  • 3 oz salami, thinly sliced in half moons
  • Optional – 2 plastic eye balls (I used these)

Directions:

(Total time: 15 minutes)

  1. Prep first! Cube your cheeses and slice your salami
  2. Place two small dishes two-thirds of the way down your cheese board to mark your eyes
  3. Make the outline of the skeleton first. Rim each bowl with cubes of your first white cheese. Then, create a half circle starting from the outside edge of each eye for top of the skeleton’s head with your second white cheese. Follow up by building the skeleton’s jaw via a third half circle off the bottom corner of each eye with your third white cheese
  4. Fill each bowl with kalamata olives for your eyes (bonus points if you nestle one plastic eyeball in each!)
  5. Place your two pita chips between your eyes as your nose. Fill in the mouth with your salami, followed by crackers for the brains. Enjoy!!!!!

Notes:

* I use Rustic Bakery’s rosemary and sea salt crackers because they’re my all-time favorite.
