Watermelon Lime Smoothie

Break out of your smoothie rut with this zingy summertime watermelon lime smoothie!

I tend to make the same three smoothies: tropical spinach, pineapple strawberry, and chocolate banana. Yet, with the advent of summer aka watermelon season, I thought, why not switch it up? Watermelon is heralded for its hydrating properties and naturally sweet, so it’s the perfect smoothie ingredient!

As with most of my recipes, this smoothie is highly customizable. I added chia seeds for fiber and protein, but you could always try protein powder instead. Think of this recipe as your base to play with!

Ingredients:

(Makes 1 good sized smoothie)

  • 1 cup chopped watermelon
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 1/4 banana
  • 1/2 tbs chia seeds for protein/fiber
  • 3/4 cup coconut water
  • 1/4 lime, juiced

Directions:

  1. Cut watermelon in pieces and de-seed. Put all ingredients in blender and enjoy!

Notes:

I pre-slice my bananas and freeze them in a baggie so I always have on hand for smoothies and never have to throw away forgotten, browning bananas.

What am I listening to as I make this?Good Morning” by Bleachers

What can I learn as I make this? When I say watermelons are hydrating– I wasn’t messing around. The average watermelon is 92% (!!!) water.

What if I want an easy breakfast but not this one?
