Make-Your-Monday Green Smoothie

Smoothies are the unsung heroes of the beverage family, but sadly typically relegated only to hot summer days or as the overly sugary fraternal twins of milkshakes. No no. In my pre-Shelter in Place existence, I would bring one to work for breakfast after I worked out a few times a week. Now that my commute, gym, and office merely consist of shuffling to a few different places in my bedroom- I have been off my smoothie game. I have also felt off my game in general (is this just me?) through Shelter in Place, so I will be fixing that, one smoothie morning ritual at a time.

The Basics…

Ingredients

  • 1.5 cup spinach
  • 1/2 cup frozen pineapple
  • 1/2 cup frozen strawberries
  • 2 cups coconut water
  • 1 scoop unsweetened vanilla protein powder
  • 1/2 banana

Directions:

Put all ingredients in blender and enjoy!

The Pairings…

What am I listening to as I cook this? FILL IN SONG

Wondering what protein powder I use? I am very picky about my protein powder. I despite when you can taste it in your smoothies or when it overtakes your tongue with chalky residue that lingers far after your smoothie has finished. I recently purchased the Tone it Up unsweetened vanilla protein powder at Target. I wanted a plant based, unsweetened, and all natural option I wouldn’t taste in my smoothies. It checks all the boxes!

Thinking to yourself that you’ll never use protein powder? Well, my friend, have you met these silver dollar cinnamon vanilla pancakes? They also require unsweetened vanilla protein powder and freakishly few steps. Perhaps it will convince you 🙂
