Green Goddess Salmon Salad

My green goddess salmon salad is perfect salad to use up the fresh herbs you have on hand 🙂

I have been having intense cravings for my favorite salad from the San Francisco restaurant, SOMA Eats: the baked salmon green goddess salad. Given SOMA Eats / San Francisco in general is over two hours from where I’m sheltering in place, actually getting that salad was out of the question. However, it’s herbaceous week, aka the week we celebrate all you can do with fresh herbs to make sure no herbs are left behind wilting in your fridge. A great way to do this is with salad dressing. So, without further adieu, let’s make a green goddess salmon salad!


(Serves 2)

For the dressing-

  • 1/3 cup nonfat Greek yogurt
  • 1/2 cup fresh herbs of choice (I did 3 cilantro, basil, chives, and dill)
  • 1 medium clove garlic, roughly chopped
  • Salt and pepper 
  • 1-2 tsp lemon juice (1 tiny lemon)
  • 1 tbs avocado oil 
  • 1/2 tsp agave

For the rest-

  • 1 piece of salmon
  • Oil for cooking
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved 
  • 1/4 bell pepper, cut in pieces
  • 4 loosely packed cups preferred greens


  1. Make salad dressing first. Be sure to wash your herbs before blending! Then, toss all ingredients in a blender. Set aside. 
  2. Onto the salmon. Heat oiled pan on medium high. Cook salmon for 4 minutes per side (watch to see when the color turns). Remove from heat immediately so it doesn’t overcook. 
  3. Chop your veggies. Split between two bowls and top with salmon and dressing! I used two forks to shred my salmon but that is completely optional.


The herbs are super customizable. Like one more than the others? Add more of it! Not loving one? Add less (or none at all!). This dressing is all about using up the fresh herbs you have on hand 🙂

What can I learn while I make this? All about green goddess dressing! When I hear “Green Goddess” I think of a super herby dressing, which makes sense, given my take on it is a vehicle for a bunch of fresh herbs. But the original green goddess was actually created at the Palace Hotel San Francisco, with a major ingredient being mayo, which was a delicacy at the time! Apologies to its inventor, but I hate mayo, so you won’t find it in mine 🙂
